More Updates

video
OK the animation is still basically all roughed out except for the audio parts. I've finished cleaning up a few scenes (and portions of scenes) that I can. Progress is going good but finishing it all is going to take a lot!

Right now I am messing around trying to come up with colors that I like.

And I finished the images for the end title cards, but I didn't make them 720 x 520 so I have to fix that. They might be animated in a special way!

Production Update

Almost everything in the cartoon is roughed out apart from the dialogue. I still need to do a lot of inbetweens, clean up, and background paintings... so... long ways to go! My friend Jeremy is going to do the lettering for the title cards and someone else is going to help me with music.

Here are some of the pencils of the backgrounds.

Maybe later if you're good I'll upload a movie of the really weird pencil tests. I'll warn you though, I actually have no idea what I'm doing.

Tutorial 4: updates

video

OK I got some feedback from people and am working on making the walk cycle more presentable. Rebecca Sugar taught me a lot about follow through and bounce, so I tried to make the breasts more organic. The skirt is being a lot more problematic... its meant to be tight, but I might have to reconsider it as something loose (and just hand draw the individual keyframes.)

PS: Check out Rebecca's Johnny Noodleneck cartoon!

Storyboards

Lars comes home to find Cats licking gems. He dumps the gems down the garbage disposal and then discovers they were only rock candy. Its a PSA.

I know it seems like I am tackling a lot but I am pretty fast at this and have some back-up plans for shots I can cut out if I run out of time. I am either recording voices this week or next week.

Tutorial 4: Walk Cycle

Mostly frame-by-frame cut-out style. I tried drawing swoosh shaped guides to keep the feet and the hands in nicer looking arcs.

I've never done a walk cycle before!
15 fps looks kind of choppy exported. I got the idea from this sweet nockForce video. The hands in it are soo cool and I wanted to do something like that!

PS: If anyone is looking for a subject for their walk cycle may I suggest this

Tutorial 3: Rotoscoping

video
Edward Muybridge rotoscoping... this is how people walked in the 19th century!
